Gary Christensen, Developer, The Christensen Corporation

Gary F. Christensen began his career in real estate finance in 1975 originating loans and developing internal underwriting standards and programs for savings and loans. In 1986, Gary established the Christensen Corporation specializing in origination and placement of term financing for multi-family developments in Oregon, Idaho and Washington.

In 2006 he completed The Banner Bank Building at 950 W. Bannock Street. Idaho’s first and only “LEED Platinum” rated building and 18th in the nation at that time. The Banner Bank Building was the first multi-tenant, privately owned building to receive such an award. The Banner Bank Building in its innovative design has lighting system, underfloor air distribution, reclaimed water use to name a few.

Gary has served on the Small Business Administration’s National Advisory Council. He was one of the initial co-owners of the Idaho Stampede CBA basketball team; served as the Chairman of the American Heart Association’s 1999 Heart Walk/Run and Boise Chamber of Commerce Board and a member of the Downtown Boise Association, Executive Committee. He currently serves on the Mayor’s Development Services Advisory Committee and The Frank Church Institute Board. Gary has won numerous awards for the development of the Banner Bank Building.

Rick Hunter, Architect, HDR Architecture

A Project Designer/Architect, Rick Hunter has over twenty five years experience in the design and documentation for a wide range of projects. He joined HDR Architecture in 1982, and has lived in Boise Idaho since 1995. Successful collaborations in Boise between Mr. Hunter and Gary Christensen (The Christensen Corporation), include the Ninth & Idaho Building office/retail project, which received a Design Excellence award from the City of Boise, and the recently completed Banner Bank Building, which is one of the few LEED Platinum – CS certified projects in to-date. Mr. Hunter joined The Christensen Corporation in May of 2006 to work more closely with the design team in developing future projects.

HDR Architecture is an employee-owned architecture, engineering and consulting firm that was founded in 1917. The firm employs more than 7,800 professionals in 185 locations worldwide. HDR Architecture was ranked 11th in Engineering News-Record’s 2010 “Top 500 Design Firms.”

Nathan Charlton, Design Consultant, KPFF Consulting Engineers

Nathan provides project teams with creative options for sound solutions. He is recognized for delivering innovative engineering approaches to complex projects such as the preeminent LDS Conference Center in Salt Lake City. Housing a six-acre green roof over a column-free interior, the heavily loaded long-span steel structure has yet to be replicated. In addition, he recently completed the successful design of the $241 million Port of Portland Headquarters at the Portland International Airport – a project recognized as one of the world’s most high-tech green buildings by Nathan actively mentors junior staff and encourages their career growth. He has helped to establish the national seismic code for steel buildings as a corresponding member of the American Institute of Steel Construction’s Task Committee on Seismic Provisions. Nathan has also provided pro bono structural engineering design work for nonprofit civic, cultural and humanitarian organizations such as Shakespeare Walla Walla, Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center in Stevenson, Washington and Medical Teams International.

The Russell Corporation is a construction management/general construction company established in 1976, incorporated in 1983 operating in the western United States. Based in Boise, their project experience extends through seven diverse western states ranging from Washington to Arizona.
